Meet the Producer: Jimmy Doherty and friends
Meet pig farmer Jimmy Doherty along with two producers including Cornerways Nusery and maverick turkey breeder Paul Kelly of Kelly Turkey's for an interactive food and wine session. To begin with they will explain the farming practices they have developed to get the best quality from their produce, guests will then have the opportunity to sample some of Jimmy's rare breed sausages, belly of pork and Paul's award winning 'Kellybronze' turkey. Food will be paired with a range of wines including English wines from Bookers Vineyard in West Sussex and a selection of beers all chosen by Vinopolis' wine expert Tom Forrest. At the end of the session all guests will receive a complimentary copy of Jimmy's book 'On the Farm'.
About Jimmy
In 2003, Jimmy Doherty left the world of Entomology to become a farmer. Since then, Jimmy has turned a derelict farm in the Suffolk countryside into a rare breed pig farm and his rollercoaster of a journey is chronicled in the hugely popular BBC series 'Jimmy's Farm'. Jimmy is a strong advocate of traditional farming methods and a more natural and sustainable way of life. Famed for his rare breedpigs that include the Essex pig. Saddlebacks and Gloucester old spts. Jimmy also breeds rare sheep, cows and chickens and grows his own vegetables.
