An Industry First: Vinopolis to Offer Carbon Neutral Events

With green policies becoming a front line issue for companies and organisers demanding more responsibility from venues and suppliers, from November, Vinopolis - the 8 roomed venue sensation by London Bridge - will be offering every organiser the opportunity to offset their carbon emissions no matter how big or small their event is!

Whether they're participating in a meeting for 6, a 3 day conference or an awards dinner for 300, every organiser will be able to go online to the Vinopolis Carbon Calculator, created by Carbon Footprint, and calculate their emissions and then look at ways to offset them, such as putting money into 'clean' energy programs. (Full details of Carbon Footprint's offset projects can be found at: http://www.carbonfootprint.com/offsetprojects.html) In line with businesses' corporate social responsibility and to promote the fact that they are doing the right thing, it will also be possible to use the Carbon Footprint logo on event invitations and collateral (for an additional fee payable to Carbon Footprint).

Vinopolis MD Rupert Ellwood said of the campaign 'This is something that event organisers are now asking us and we are the first venue to offer this service. At Vinopolis we take the impact we have on the environment seriously and whilst we recognise that as a result of organising an event with us we there will be carbon consumption we want our clients to be fully informed and to know what the options are for reducing the impact.'

The Vinopolis Carbon Calculator will be available from November 18th. Each organiser will be given a unique password so they can input attendees travel details and the number of hours rooms are used for. The calculator will then work out the emissions created for the client to then choose their method of offsetting.

• Vinopolis is open 5 days a week from 12noon. Vinopolis is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please check the website for closing times on the day you wish to go. Last admittance is 2.5 hours prior to closing time.
